BFI - The Travelling Campfire
The Travelling Campfire is about a campfire who helps travellers that come into the woods in exchange for wood.
In this project, I have signed up to the BFI and we have created an animated short film this time round and in this time the BFI it has given me another experience what it is like working in the media industry. Before we arrived to the BFI desination, we have created a pitch and voted on what films we would like to work on, during this time we also got to introduce ourselfes to each other and get to know each other better.
On the first day, we have come together to start working on the project. We initially started by collecting our ideas and creating a rough storyboard, shot list and anamatic for what the short film would look like in the end. We also started to work on character designs for the character and how the other people would also look in the short film.
On the second day, we started to work on some background images for the setting of our scenes and also started some animations. My team was able to finish the character designs and we have gotten most of the backgrounds done and only had a few bits left.
On the third day, we created some stills for the short film so that everything looks as if they are in place. I also started to compose the clips I had and started making effects form them. For example, the warmth and light from the campfire to make it feel like it is moving and warming things up.
On the fourth day, I was able to finish all of the composing and I have started to add all of the effects and the final sounds to the scene. I have managed to get most of the effects complete and I have added some movement to the background so that they do not appear to be still and would have some movement with the camera.
On the fifth day, I have managed to add all of the effects and I have also managed to add all of the sounds in so that it sounds seemingless. I also added music in the background to add more emotion to the story so the audience would be able to feel compassion for the campfire. We also rendered all of the clips that we needed to and exported them out as the final product.
